It can all be summarized by one, simple fact: Nathaniel loves to drive his Corvettes!
After endlessly searching for a Corvette club to join in Arizona that didn't involve paying annual fees and having monthly meetings, Nathaniel and Melanie finally met a group in Prescott called Velocity Vettes. True to their own hearts, Velocity Vettes is a group of Corvette owners who are passionate about driving their cars. Nathaniel and Melanie quickly fit right in, and they helped contribute to the rapid growth of Velocity Vettes by bringing with them numerous other Corvette enthusiasts living in the Phoenix and Tucson areas.
In the summer of 2008 AZ Corvette was created by Nathaniel and Melanie as a way to organize their First Annual "Devil's Highway" Cruise. As a two-day event through some of the most scenic areas in Arizona, this cruise was a first for the Velocity Vettes group. Despite some interesting weather, those that made the trip still fondly reminisce about the winding roads, unforgettable scenery, and remote lodging. To this day many proclaim it to be one of the best drives they have ever taken with their Corvettes.
Following the huge success of the first cruise, the Second Annual "Devil's Highway" Cruise was organized for the summer of 2009. Now it was a three-day event filled with more activities to do and more great places to drive. So many Corvette owners wanted to come that lodging reservations were limited to a first come, first serve basis. The second cruise was just as successful as the first, and people ended the event already talking about wanting to do it again the next year.
Looking toward 2010, AZ Corvette kicked off its third year with a New Year's sunrise breakfast cruise to Tortilla Flat.
So what's going to happen next? Nathaniel and Melanie will continue to help organize cruises, gather participation for local charity car shows, and promote a good time for Arizona Corvette owners.
